Located 12 miles west of Chicago’s Loop, Elmwood Park contains affordable homes and a wide array of shops and restaurants.
You can find a mixture of brick bungalows on the streets north of Grand Avenue, and higher-priced split-levels, Cape Cods and Georgians on the south side of the village There are some condos and apartments scattered throughout town.
Shopping is located along Conti Parkway, a circular street which is also home to the library and rec center. More shopping can be found along Grand Avenue and North Avenue. There are wide variety of restaurants in town with an assortment of cuisines.
The town’s rec department has a variety activities for all ages. The outdoor aquatic center which features a pool and water slides is a popular summertime destination. The town’s “Taste of Elmwood Park” is a popular annual event.
The Eisenhower Expressway is located a few miles south of the village. The Metra train from the Elmwood Park station takes about 30 minutes (20 minutes express) ride into downtown Chicago.
